This year has already seen some new innovations in anti-virus software and the websites that describe the new products are proliferating faster than their information can be analyzed. Reviews of antivirus software covers products like K7computing.com, Shield Deluxe 2009, Webroot 6.0, Bit Defender, CA 2009, McAfee 2009, Norton 2009 and ESET NOD 32.3.0. Grounds for comparison were varied, but included price, ease of use, customer service, and level of support.

What these reviewers had to say was based on thorough and well-researched product testing. K7computing proved to be one of the highest quality, due to its low cost and maximum impact. Sheild Deluxe received a very high grade and has an incredible pedigree. It is a product of the PCSecurityShield Company, located in Boynton Beach, FL in the USA. PCSecurityShield is an IS3 property, in turn a Florida Corporation since 1991.(IS3 stands for Internet Software Systems Solutions). These people brought out Stopzilla in 2001, a mega-product in its own right, for clients in the retail industry. 2009 Software Reviews rated Shield Deluxe with an A, citing its ease of installation and user-friendliness.

Webroot 6.0, and BitDefender Anti-Virus 2009, came in next with grades of B+. Both these products had excellent reviews from the reviewers; however slight the difference with the leader, Shield Deluxe. Webroot 6.0 had features which were ordinarily found on higher priced security sites, the reviewers noted. Both were easy to install and understand. CA Anti-Virus Plus 2009, Norton AntiVirus 2009 and McAfee VirusScan Plus 2009 were the next tier, with overall grades of B. All these products have ability to find and remove threats which impressed the reviewers. Norton, in particular, was sited for the smaller footprint, and the options the software provided. ESET NOD 32 Antivirus 3.0 brought up the pack with a grade of C+. According to the reviewers, it was a clean and simple install and better than previous versions.

It is very important for people who use anti-virus software (as we all should) to remember that it should be updated regularly for the maximum effect. Between anti-virus software and backing up your machine, you should be covered against most if not all emergencies. Common sense should be your guide no matter which product you buy. Make sure you can understand its features and why you need to use them. Otherwise, you will have not gotten best use from your purchase.
